The Eyes to See Difference
A pediatric ophthalmologist is a medical doctor, trained in the specialty of ophthalmology and in a sub-specialty of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
Doctor Vredevoogd is a medical doctor (EyeMD) who has had four years of medical school, one year of internship training in general surgery, three years of residency training in ophthalmology and one year of fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology. She is equipped to provide total eye care. She performs eye surgery, prescribes intravenous and topical eye medications and examines and fits for eyeglasses. Her study of pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus has given her expertise in treating children with lazy eye and refractive errors, and children and adults with strabismus (crossed or wandering eyes).
In addition to specialty training in examining a frightened or uncooperative child in a manner that is non-threatening but extremely informative, Dr. Vredevoogd is trained to understand the developmental phases of a child's eye and what is needed in each of the phases for optimal eye health.
